Minnesota & Taxation without Representation
By ochua1 | April 15, 2009
I find it ironic that conservatives have a problem with taxation with representation but don’t have a problem with the state of Minnesota being underrepresented.
The so-called “tea party” going on is not even the same as the original one back in 1773. That protest was because the colonies were without representation. (By the way, a recent Gallup Poll finds that 61% of Americans think that their income taxes are fair.)
Al Franken won Minnesota’s senatorial election back in November of last year but has yet to take a seat on the Senate floor. The Republicans, including Minnesota’s Republican governor, have done everything to prolong the recount even though all of the recounts—and even a Minnesota court—agree that Al Franken won the election.
